CSS-based vs. Table-based Layout for SEO

by Abdo on August 6, 2009

Hi All,

In the free website review, I'm offering through Al-Adham, the first point I was always highlighting is the table-based layout and its negative effect on SEO, I remember that had been a part of every CSS course/book I went through. Just revisiting the issue today and getting to the interesting "Google Webmaster Help" YouTube channel, as the final word in SEO will be always from Google, that video clarified the issue for me.

So, according to Google it doesn't make a difference from an SEO point of view whether a table-based or CSS-based layout is utilized in the site, but I'm still an advocate to CSS-based layout for so many reasons.

May be the way I learned from HTML Dog, and Lynda.com was all going for a semantic, W3C complaint markup.

It still a good idea for every website owner to subscribe to Google Webmaster Help's YouTube channel, I think it's a great resource for simplified, trusted information.

Hi There,

Last time, I presented why I switched to Gmail after using thunderbird for a while. This post is going to be more practical on how to configure your Gmail account to achieve what we discussed earlier.

Adding accounts to Gmail.

Sending from address.

Adding an account.

To be updated.

What do you use for Email?

by Abdo on August 4, 2009

Hi All,

I was just updating how I use my Email account, and wondered how others access their Email.

I was working mainly with my PC all the time so, was comfortable checking my Email from Thunderbird, accessing the account via POP3. When I started to access the same account from the laptop too using POP3, it was kind of waste of time and disorganized as the Emails get downloaded even if you checked it somewhere else.

The solution had been using IMAP other than POP3 to sync the account with multiple Email clients, as I manage multiple addresses from multiple domains, it's kind of hard to manage, so I decided to center all of my Emails with my Gmail account and configured my Gmail account accordingly.

What do you need with Email, receiving Emails targeting you from several addresses, in my case I have a personal Email I use for everything that doesn't have to do with the business, I have an Email for DeveloperMan, because it's kind of cool and professional having such Email. Plus, accounts for managing Al-Adham, Egypt-Designers and Egypreneur.

I want to receive the messages sent for all these accounts and I want to reply from these addresses too, how should I go about configuring Gmail and my server to do that.

First step in the back-end is creating the Email account, in my case I wanted 2 mail boxes one related to everything had to do with the business and its projects and another one kind of personal, I use it for everything else.

So, I made an account for amagdy.net and decided to make it my personal account forever, and I made forwards for every account that's personal in nature, while I made also a business account al-adham.com where also everything related to the business is being forwarded.

Physically, there is only 2 account, 2 mailboxes and all the rest are forwards, mean that the message sent to that address doesn't get stored in the server, instead it gets forwarded to the other address specified.

How to do that with Gmail, that's what we're going to know shortly ;)

Experimenting with Chromakey videos

by Abdo on August 2, 2009

Hey There,

Home made potential Chroma key stage @ my home office

I'm experimenting from a while with Chroma Key videos, and started getting some interesting results recently with my new video camera.

Light and Material of background is the most important points to consider while going for Chroma key video. I thought why should I go for Chroma key and suspend videos creation till getting a satisfactory results?? And decided to make normal videos for now, till I get everything sorted out with the light and background.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 for editing my videos and reached an advanced skill level using it, but still working with such projects need so much time and dedication.

As you're expecting, I'll be making Vlogs about web development, but didn't decide on where am I going to host it yet, but mostly will on
